Alternative Provision

Alternative provision (AP) is education arranged for children and young people who cannot attend a mainstream or special school.

Childcare

Childcare providers support young children with daily care, early learning and social development. They create safe, nurturing environments where children can play, explore and build early communication, physical and emotional skills.

Childminder

Childminders provide home-based childcare for babies, toddlers and young children in a small, family-style environment.

Clubs

Clubs offer structured out-of-school activities designed to support children’s development, interests and wellbeing.

Health

Health providers deliver clinical, medical and wellbeing services that support children’s physical, emotional and developmental needs.

Mentor

Mentors support children and young people through guided, relationship-based sessions that focus on confidence, emotional wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and personal development.

Nursery

Nurseries offer early years education and childcare for babies, toddlers and preschool-aged children.

School

Schools deliver formal education for children and young people from early years through to secondary and post-16.

SEN Support

SEN Support is the system used in schools and early years settings to help children who need additional support but do not have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Teachers

Teachers plan, deliver and assess structured learning for children and young people across all phases of education.

Therapists

Therapists provide clinical and developmental support that helps children and young people communicate, move, regulate emotions, manage health needs and access learning.

Tutors

Tutors provide personalised, targeted teaching to support children and young people with academic progress, confidence and skill-building.
